About Me

Steve Nunez is a 6th generation Tucsonan born and raised in the heart of downtown. He graduated from the University of Arizona and is a pioneer member of the first Hispanic fraternity on campus, Omega Delta Phi. Steve is a former award-winning news journalist who celebrated more than 20 years working in local television news at both KGUN-9 & KVOA News 4 Tucson. In between TV news jobs, Steve has always returned to his radio broadcasting roots and helped launch Tucson’s first Spanish FM radio station, 102.1 FM La Caliente! He most recently hosted his weekly radio show, “Tucson’s Hispanic Voices!”

Today, Steve found a new passion in life working as a mortgage loan officer where his mission has become two-fold: One, to help families, especially those with children, achieve their dreams of homeownership, and two, to grow his professional business to align with his “why” or purpose in life, which is to give back to his community through his annual Christmas toy giveaway party, Miracle En El Barrio! Over the last 21-years, Miracle En El Barrio has given toys to more than 42,000 kids, many who otherwise may not have received a toy for Christmas.

So, when you think of home loans, Steve is asking you to think of him. When you refer business to Steve, in turn, he will honor his pledge to donate 10% of his earned commissions from every home loan to benefit the kids of Miracle En El Barrio.

Steve’s other passion in life is his daughter, Camila, and his family. If you know Steve, you’ll also know he’s the biggest Arizona Wildcats fan and is always seen sporting Wildcats gear including wearing his “Lucky Wildcats Scarf,” especially during basketball season. However, his scarf carries a much deeper meaning and truly signifies a much more meaningful tribute to his family for supporting and helping him beat the odds to become the first in his family to graduate from the University of Arizona!

Let’s find the right home loan for you

We have loan options to fit every situation, from down payment assistance programs for first-time homebuyers to government-sponsored programs for military families and rural residents or jumbo loans in high-cost markets.

Conventional

Conventional

A Conventional loan is a great option if you have an average to high credit score and little debt. This allows you to take advantage of lower interest rates. With these types of loans, you have the option to put 20% down, which eliminates the need for private mortgage insurance (PMI) and saves you money. If you don’t have a large down payment saved up though, don’t worry. We have Conventional loan options for down payments as low as 3%.
Down payment assistance

Down payment assistance

If you’re purchasing your first home, you have options to buy without saving a full down payment. Down payment assistance (DPA) programs can help with your down payment in the form of a loan or grant that is often forgiven over time.
FHA

FHA

If you’re looking to buy on a tight budget, these loans are a great option. It’s easier to qualify for FHA loans because they carry lower credit score requirements and lower down payment options starting at 3.5% down. They’re also insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) and only issued by FHA-approved lenders.

All loans are subject to underwriter approval; terms and conditions may apply. Subject to change without notice.
