Don McGlinchy, Reverse Mortgage Expert
I grew up in the Bay Area. After raising our two daughters my wife, Lynn and I now live in Sonoma County. I have been originating home loans since 1990. In addition to my Sonoma County branch, I also own a branch in Pleasanton, CA. Over my career, I have witnessed the evolution of reverse mortgages. Today, most reverse mortgages are regulated and insured by the federal government. Although reverse mortgages have been traditionally used to refinance your home to pay off an existing mortgage or provide monthly tax-free income, the reverse mortgage can now also be used to purchase a home.
I am on a mission to help as many seniors as possible learn about the benefits of a reverse mortgage. In many cases, a reverse mortgage can allow a senior to retire earlier and provide the monthly cash flow needed for the quality of life they strive for in their golden years.
Every senior homeowner has a unique situation and retirement goals. My role is to be an advisor. A reverse mortgage is not the answer for all seniors, but for many, it has proven to be a "life-changer".
