Karen Swanson has been in the mortgage industry since 2001, providing personalized mortgage advice tailored to each client’s needs. Karen earned her bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from the University of Vermont and has worked in the finance industry since graduating from college. She was a Series 7 licensed sales assistant for Shearson Lehman American Express and managed the finances for a $2MM budget church in the Maryland suburbs.

Karen is passionate about making a difference in her clients' financial portfolios. She has built her business by referral with a focus on educating her clients on the loan process, helping them understand the products available and the benefits of the mortgage as more than a home finance tool.

Karen loves helping 1st time homebuyers and those looking to build their dream home.

Helped over 1200 families so far.

A proud mother of two amazing daughters, Karen created a Fiscal Literacy Curriculum for kids – "Making a Difference with Money" and has been featured on Jim Kramer's Mad Money because of the curriculum.

Karen loves to ski, travel and explore.  She volunteers with a local disaster relief group as part of the chain saw ministry.  Karen was part of the National Ski Patrol for 10 years and a volunteer ski coach for a high school ski team.  A few of her favorite books are Never Eat Alone by Keith Ferrazzi, Thinking for a Change by John Maxwell.  Her favorite quotes are “You know, sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage.  Just literraly twenty seconds of embarrassing bravery.  And I promise you, something great will come of it”  We Bought a Zoo.  “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care”  Theodore Roosevelt.
