I have been providing personal mortgage advice since 1990.
In 2007, my focus shifted to helping my clients with more than just getting a great mortgage. I felt obligated to educate my clients on the importance of choosing a mortgage plan that would complement their holistic financial plan. My goal became helping clients choose a mortgage plan that would improve their ability to: 1) save more for their retirement 2) save more for their child’s education 3) pay off all their high-interest debt 4) save more in their liquid cash rainy-day fund.
In 2008 I obtained my Series 65 Investment Adviser license. Now I am one of just a handful of people in America that hold a mortgage advisor and an investment advisor license simultaneously. With my investment advisor license comes the requirement for me to be a fiduciary. Fiduciaries are obligated by law to act in their client’s best interest, rather than operating out of self-interest. I take my fiduciary oath very seriously and therefore only make recommendations that are the best financial decision for my clients.
I spend a great deal of time with each client to develop a personal financial plan centered around the proper mortgage to meet their financial needs. I teach my clients that a mortgage is not a necessary evil, but a powerful financial tool. The concentration of my business is a broader goal of maximizing my clients’ wealth. I educate my clients about the importance of liquidity, diversification, rebalancing, and long-term investing in their holistic financial plans.
I don’t believe the American Dream is merely homeownership. I believe the real American Dream is financial security. I am educating everyone I can on how to accomplish this dream.
