Although this was the fourth home I’ve purchased in my lifetime, the process remains challenging—and at times, frustrating. Unless it’s something you do every day, buying a home can really test your patience and nerves. I was incredibly fortunate to partner with Jorge Barrantes of Guild Mortgage. Jorge guided me through every step of the process with professionalism and unwavering support, especially during the underwriting phase. As many know, underwriters often ask for explanations on the most mundane and, frankly, nonsensical details. Their role is to protect the lender from risk, which I completely understand. But even as a well-qualified borrower, I found myself fielding questions that were impossible to reasonably answer. Jorge was not only understanding—he was instrumental in managing those moments. He took the pressure off, handled the communication, and made it easy for me to focus only on providing what was needed.
