To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to provide feedback on my recent refinance experience, which was a mix of excellent service and extremely frustrating miscommunication. While my loan officer, Alec Norets, was outstanding, the process was significantly delayed and complicated by the underwriting team, specifically Jessica Beristain.
Positive Feedback: Alec Norets
I want to extend my highest praise to Alec Norets. From our very first conversation, Alec was professional, knowledgeable, and proactive.
Clear communication: He did an excellent job of understanding my personal goals and financial needs for this refinance. He explained complex details in a clear and accessible way, making me feel comfortable and well-informed throughout the initial stages.
Seamless process: Alec made the initial application and pre-approval process feel smooth and effortless. He set clear expectations and kept me up-to-date, making me feel like a valued client.
Problem-solving: He was a true advocate for me and a credit to your company. The contrast between his dedication and the experience with the underwriting team was stark.
Negative Feedback: Underwriting Team and Jessica Beristain
Unfortunately, the process took a turn for the worse once the file was passed to the underwriting team, largely due to the conduct of Jessica Beristain. The issues stemmed from a severe lack of communication and delayed response times.
Slow communication: My experience involved sending requested paperwork on a Tuesday and not receiving a response until Friday evening, only to be told more information was needed. This pattern created unnecessary and frustrating delays.
Delayed responses: The slow communication created a cascade of problems. The delays caused critical paperwork to expire and have to be redrawn, which was a direct result of the underwriting team's delayed response times.
Financial consequences: The most damaging consequence of these delays was that the terms of my refinance changed. Because of the underwriting delays, I was unable to lock in the initial interest rate and received a lower payout. This had a direct financial impact on me, the client, and was entirely avoidable if communication had been handled efficiently.
Overall Summary
The experience with Alec Norets was a model for how a refinance should be handled—he built trust and provided confidence from the start. However, this was completely undermined by the inefficiency and poor communication from the underwriting team, specifically Jessica Beristain. This not only created stress and frustration but also led to a tangible financial loss for me.
I hope you will review the process with your underwriting team to prevent other clients from experiencing similar issues. Your company's reputation and client satisfaction are at risk when one department's excellent work is undone by another's poor performance.
Sincerely, Kara Slaymaker
